Thank you for the detailed info, however, I partially agree with you. The info on coos bay is very far off. It’s 25% more expensive than Northern California, only electricity, gasoline & car registration are cheaper. Housing is almost impossible to find. Many of the houses for sale cannot be financed… so, cash buyers only.
We regularly have friends bring groceries etc up from California due to the much lower cost.
Property taxes are much higher than California or Arizona. Just going to the dump with an average load is 35% more. We love coos bay, would never leave… but it’s not cheap or easy to live here. Tons of homeless people, lots of crime in town. Oregon is not an inexpensive state to reside.

    1. Thank you Rose for your kind input. We have updated the article. I agree with you that Oregon is not an inexpensive state but still there are some places where you can live without breaking your bank.

We are looking to rent a place in Albany, Oregon. The rent is so high for just a studio or even a one bedroom apartment. $1400-$2500 a month! Who in the world can afford this especially if people are retired and living on a small amount of social security but too much social security to apply for any type of assistance. I love Oregon and my grandkids are there, but finding a place to live seems impossible.
